Madison River Elk

This photograph was taken in July 2005 along the Madison River between Madison and West Yellowstone. In the summer time the cows and calves stay together in larger herds, bulls are found alone in other locations. This herd had around 30 or 40 elk in it. When fall arrives and the rut season starts the herds thin out and pair up with a bull for the mating season. With all my other elk post and captions it leaves me a little short on what to say. So as Forest Gump would say "That's all I have to say about that".
