I guess it is fitting that today's post is firetrucks since I seen enough last night to last me for awhile. Both images have been played with in photoshop to alter their appearances. The top photo was taken in September 2006 at the Washington D.C. muster to benefit the burn unit. Photo two was taken July 2006 at the Pennsylvania Pump Primers muster along the Susquehanna river in Harrisburg.

What is that apparatus on the front of the first one? Looks like a pump of some sort that may run directly off the engine?
Chuck, that is a pump, a drive shaft runs off the power plant and directly into the impellar. If you look at the center line everything equal to it or below are intakes, everything above are discharges. To the left you can see the throttle and the other handle is for the primer, what you don't see is the gauge just above that on the flat area.
