Last day of birds for this week, I promise. Of course it is my last post until Monday, but still the last bird for the week. Today's bird is the common moorhen to learn more about this species follow this link http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Common_Moorhen.html. Like many of the others bird photos recently this was taken at Viera Wetlands.

Now I see where the term "odd duck" came from. Something tells me this bird is bad news if it's cornered.
Nice photo! I saw one of these once in my life, South Carolina.
Brad: Cool shot, I saw these when in Florida.
I love seeing all the bird photos!!
Great picture of that moorhen, we got them here too, so it seems that it is really common ...
Love your pictures, came for skywatch...
But I love birds !!
Nice weekend,
Erwin.

Moorhen eh....I haven't ever seen one of these. Yesterday I saw Canadian Geese heading north in a V. Perhaps that is a sign that spring is around the corner here in Illinios. Happy Sky Watch Friday.

When one is visiting wetlands in Florida common certainly applies to these beautifully marked birds.
Good sharp shot Brad.
I really enjoyed your bird photos this week. They are outstanding photos.
Have been enjoying your FL series Brad. Blue Skies.
Wild looking bird! Post as many birds as you like, they are all wonderful!
I had never heard of these, at least not that I can remember. Think I will check out your link to more about them.
What an interesting looking bird. I don't think I've ever heard of a Moorhen before. Great picture!
