Bald Eagle...

When planning to photograph birds in Florida never did I think that one of the birds I would be photographing would be a Bald Eagle. Within two hours of my house is one of the better places to photograph these beautiful birds, this years trips did not pan out as expected. I did get my best flying shots this year but I learned I need to go earlier in the season and more often. With the upgrade to equipment and additional knowledge I hope that next year will be much different.

This has to be my best eagle photograph to date. Unfortunately the skies were not blue and the lighting was not the best but then again I am in this for the thrill of seeing the wildlife and fun of photographing it. This just happened to be my last trip through the Viera wetlands when I found him sitting atop the highest tree in the area.

    I love the American Bald Eagle. Being an Eagle Scout and retired from the Air Force this is a symbol of our freedom.

    A great shot of a beautiful bird. I am eager to shoot a decent picture of an eagle soon, I love those birds.

    Very nice shot Brad.

    I was suprised to see Bald Eagles in 2008 when photographing birds south of Kissimmee, then I learned that Fl has possibly the largest population of BE's in the eastern US.

    Great shot of our national bird! And an excellent shot of the snake. And a good report on the shippensburg accident. My hats off to you and the other fire and rescue personnel who handle situations like this!

    That's a really sweet shot, Brad. Nice head angle and good detail. I'm not sure how high the bird may have been, but I'm wondering if you used flash. I'm thinking flash and a better beamer may have been able to throw some extra light on him.
